SOCIETY AGM 2002

This year, the Society AGM was organised by the the Bangor Branch and held in The Walter Nelson

 Complex in Groomsport, County Down on 18 May 2002.


Following Registration, all members enjoyed tea/coffee and scones before visiting the various Branch

 displays.  The AGM itself started around 1200 with a welcome from the Bangor Chairman, Rob Davison.

 

The President, John Bassett, gave his address and during this outlined some of the many opportunities

 and pitfalls facing the genealogist and how these have and will change.  Following three years as President

 and with a large business workload over the next year, he also informed members that he would not be

 standing for re-election.  

 

The meeting continued with reports from :

The Chairperson then declared all electable posts vacant and asked the outgoing President to conduct

 the election.

 

Those elected were:

 

Randall Gill as President

Jeanne Jordan as Vice President

Ann Robinson as Chairperson

Rosemary Sibbett as Vice Chairperson

Georgie Siberry as General Secretary

Rosemary Sibbett as Membership Secretary

John Bassett as Minutes Secretary

Robert Guthrie as Treasurer

Randall Gill as Librarian

Alan Hyndman as Webmaster

Noel Redmond as Development Officer

Ann Robinson as FULS Executive Committee Member

 

Unfortunately the posts of Publicity Officer and Grants Officer were again not filled. 

 

Before discussing the AOB, the meeting adjourned for a very pleasant lunch made by the ladies of the

Church.

 

Following the conclusion of business at around 1530, many members left to visit the Cockle Row Cottages

adjacent to the Halls.
