The Society as a Charity has a Governing Document consisting of a Society Constitution and a Branch Constitution.
The North of Ireland Family History Society (NIFHS) adopted the current Branch Constitution for existing Branches at the Society’s A.G.M. on the 30th May 2009.
Any new Branch has to adopt this Constitution, which defines the Branch’s rôle and responsibilities and the Membership and Meetings of the Branch and of its Committee. It is to be read in conjunction with the Society Constitution, which defines the Society’s Objects, its obligations as a Charity and the rôle of its managing body, the Council of Trustees, on which each Branch is represented by its Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer.
