Public Benefit: NIFHS out and about

The North of Ireland Family History Society provides public benefits as well as resources and services for its Members.

It can provide organisations with speakers, or a stall with family history research information.  Visitors are welcome at branch meetings and at our Research Centre.  We can also arrange courses for the general public.

If you would like to find out more about any of the activities below, please make a General enquiry via our Contact page.

Get Involved with NIFHS Activities

We offer a range of engaging services for Members and the public—including courses, meetings, expert talks, research support, and outreach stalls—to help you explore your family history.

Genealogy Courses and DNA Courses

We hold genealogy and DNA courses at regular intervals throughout the year, and we usually open them to both the general public and our Members. We design these courses to help everyone – from beginners starting their family history research to experienced researchers exploring specialised records and techniques.

We can arrange tailored courses for individual organisations to meet their specific requirements.

Speakers

NIFHS members are available to speak to other organisations on a variety of topics that can be tailored to suit the organisation’s requirements.

Stalls

The Society provides stalls at a variety of events each year, ranging from history fairs, craft shows and events in local libraries. Our volunteers offer free advice about all things family history. We can also bring a stock of useful research books and leaflets, some free, to help them. In addition, the DNA team can bring information and kits to events.
