Index to Solicitors' Records
The North of Ireland Family History Society (NIFHS) has a collection of indexed solicitors’ records, mainly from the Lurgan/Portadown area, in the Randal Gill Library.
The material in these numbered boxes was offered to P.R.O.N.I. and, as they did not want it, it was then given to N.I.F.H.S. It consists of papers from various solicitors, mostly Herbert Murray Gibson, Valentine Wilson and William Henry Wright of Portadown, Co. Armagh, but also from Wilson McKeown, Ballymena, Co. Antrim, whose documents are mostly in Box 7. The documents are mostly copies of wills and land papers. There are 14 boxes and the material in each box is arranged alphabetically. One main surname has been chosen for each “envelope” and these entries are given as follows, meaning that the information on Patrick Fearon can be found in Box 7 in an envelope marked FEARON.
