Whether you are an expert or a beginner at researching your Family History, you would be made very welcome at our meetings.
We hold a Chat Night every month, which is in addition to our Members night. This enables Branch Members to chat more about their family research, get help with brick walls and share how we each carry out and record that research. These have been very informal zoom nights and our members are able to chat freely with each other and ask for help.
Larne Branch is heavily involved in the DNA Projects for Ballycarry and Islandmagee, both with identifying people who are descended from the main families that have been highlighted by the project and in the testing of these family members. This has helped us as a Branch and also enabled us to spread what the Society offers to its members.
Larne Branch usually meets on the third Thursday of the month at 7:15 p.m. from September to May.
These meetings are an opportunity for Members to hear about what is going in the Branch and in the wider Society.
Many of the meetings feature an interesting presentation given by a guest speaker.
Members of the Branch will be notified by email. Non-members are welcome too – email us to register using the button on the right. If that doesn’t open your email account, it might be your computer settings. You can also message us via our Contact page.
Larne Branch has produced two publications based on its research activities:
They are now out of print but they are available at the local library, and the Society’s Research Centre has a copy.
Meetings are usually held in Larne Library, 36 Pound Street, Larne, BT40 1SQ
