This talk considers the life and career of ‘Bill’ McCutcheon who grew up in the Smithfield area of Lisburn. He served in the 1st (Airborne battalion of the Royal Ulster Rifles during the second world war. Gliding into France by air on D-Day,he later won the Military Medal for Bravery in the Normandy Campaign.
